GMT hires telecoms expert

GMT Communications Partners, the London-based private equity firm specializing in investments in the communications sector, has announced a double appointment to the investment team.

Ian McKenzie joins as a senior adviser. He is a telecoms veteran following 32 years at British Telecom, ending up as chief operating officer for the Asia-Pacific region. In 2000 he left to become chief operating officer of Kingston Communications, and then went on to become an independent consultant to private equity firms investing in the telecommunications industry, including GMT before spending four years at Invitel, initially as chief executive officer and then executive chairman

Maria Trokoudes joins as a senior associate. She joins from McKinsey & Co where she served as an engagement manager in the firm’s media and entertainment practice. Her role involved developing strategy and improving operations for a range of US and European media companies. Prior to specialising in the media and communications sector, Trokoudes worked at Goldman Sachs (2000-2002) and as a consultant at The World Bank (1999).
