IBJ Whitehall Names New M.D. –

Middle-market corporate financier IBJ Whitehall Bank & Trust Co. last month appointed Peter Mace as senior credit loan officer for IBJ Whitehall Corporate Finance. Mace, who will assume the title of senior managing director, will report to Larry Zilavy, president of the Corporate Finance Group, and to John Flannery, senior credit officer for IBJ Whitehall Bank & Trust Co.

Prior to joining IBJ Whitehall, Mace served as senior vice president at First Union National Bank where he managed a corporate credit team. Mace said his decision to join IBJ Whitehall was based on prior relationships with some of the bank’s senior partners as well as relocation issues. “In order to have any career growth beyond where I was at First Union, I had to go to Charlotte, N.C. and I had no desire to go to Charlotte,” said Mace.

In his new capacity, Mace will be responsible for the overall credit quality for the corporate finance group and will also be a member of the bank’s credit policy committee. Mace said he is currently “jumping into transactions” and trying to get a handle on IBJ Whitehall’s policy and industry guidelines.

In a statement, Dennis Buchert, president and chief executive officer of IBJ Whitehall Bank & Trust Co., said, “Peter’s experience with portfolio management and credit quality will be a valuable addition to our organization. He is a seasoned banking executive whose knowledge will help us significantly strengthen our credit culture.”
