IFM Investors adds to North American infrastructure team

IFM Investors hired an executive from the airline sector for its North American infrastructure team, which manages about $24 billion for the Australian fund manager.

Sebastian Domenech was named director of asset management at IFM Investors over the summer. He previously was senior vice president of engineering and line maintenance at Latam Airlines in Santiago, Chile.

Domenech also worked at LAN Airlines and Booz & Co. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Business, he speaks Spanish and Portuguese, his LinkedIn profile says.

Domenech works out of the New York office, the headquarters of IFM Investors’ North American infrastructure team. Julio Garcia, head of infrastructure for North America, leads the team.

In May, IFM Global Infrastructure Fund, an open-ended pool the firm manages, sold a 10 percent interest in Indiana Toll Road Concession Co to California Public Employees’ Retirement System and another to Allstate.

In August, IFM Investors named Nicholas Hyde director of business development for Australia and Asia.

In May, the firm named Rich Randall global head of debt investments, based in New York, reporting to IFM Investors CEO Brett Himbury. Randall previously was executive director of debt investments at the firm. Robin Miller, formerly global head of debt investments, is now a senior adviser and chair of the firm’s investment committee.

Among other moves at IFM Investors, Carol Gray was named to the firm’s board in June. A professional independent director, Gray brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial-services and financial-tech sectors. In May, IFM Investors named Chris Newton executive director of responsible investment.

In December, the firm named Tom King as a senior adviser in infrastructure based in Houston. King previously was chairman of National Grid USA as well as CEO of Pacific Gas and Electric Co and president and COO of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners.
