Leonard Green hires Debevoise lawyer as general counsel

Leonard Green & Co. hired a fund formation lawyer from Debevoise & Plimpton as its general counsel, sources said.

Andrew Goldberg joined Leonard Green in January, according to the sources. Goldberg’s LinkedIn profile confirms he joined the firm in January. He is not yet listed on the firm’s website.

Goldberg worked with Leonard Green on formation of the firm’s sixth fund in 2012 while he worked at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, one of the sources said. Goldberg worked at Gibson Dunn from 2010 to March 2014.

At Debevoise, Goldberg worked on fund formation, his LinkedIn said.

Leonard Green is in the market raising its seventh fund. The firm recently raised the target on Fund VII from $7.5 billion to $8.5 billion and set a $9.1 billion cap. A first close on the fund could come in the first quarter and the firm could hold final close in March, sources have told Buyouts in prior interviews.
