Longtime LP Welker lands at Champlain Advisors

  • Champlain hires Welker as a managing director
  • Focused on client origination, due diligence and project management
  • Spent 17 years at Allianz Capital Partners

Brian Welker, a former limited partner at Allianz Capital Partners, has joined placement firm Champlain Advisors.

Welker joined Champlain in August as a managing director, according to a person with knowledge of the move and Welker’s LinkedIn profile.

Welker is involved in Champlain’s client origination, due diligence and project management activities, according to Champlain’s website.

Terry Crikelair, partner at Champlain, did not respond to a request for comment.

Welker left Allianz earlier this year, Buyouts previously reported. He worked there since 1998, most recently as an investment director, according to LinkedIn.

Allianz Capital, established in 1998 as Allianz Group’s in-house investment platform, is expanding its presence in the Americas market, especially North America and possibly Latin America, Stefanie Rupp-Menedetter, an Allianz spokeswoman, said in a prior interview.

Allianz Capital in January hired Susanne Forsingdal, the former head of U.S. fund investing for Danish fund-of-funds ATP Private Equity Partners. Forsingdal joined Allianz Capital as head of U.S. fund investing and co-investing.
