Metcalfe joins Hermes

Hermes, the investment manager for the BT Pension Scheme Trustees, has appointed Charlie Metcalfe as head of business development and deputy chief executive. Metcalfe’s appointment reflects Hermes’ continuing strategy of offering the investment services and products which it provides to its owners, the BT Pension Scheme Trustees, to a broader range of organisations in order to diversify its business and client base.

Metcalfe joins Hermes’ executive management team, which also includes Adrian White, COO, and Nick Mustoe, the CIO, who are also joint deputy chief executives of the group.

Prior to joining Hermes, Metcalfe was the president and CEO of mPower Europe Ltd, an e-commerce company providing e-enabled financial and investment advice solutions to banks, insurance companies and DC plans. He ran the London-based company and oversaw its recapitalisation and an eventual trade sale of the firm in late 2001. Prior to that he headed marketing, sales and strategy for Goldman Sachs Asset Management from 1998 and Merrill Lynch Capital Management from 1994 with responsibility across various regions including the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
