Mui Hong Named To Head Up Vertex

Goh Mui Hong recently was named president and CEO of Vertex Management, making her one of a handful of women in the world to manage a global venture capital firm.

Singapore-based Vertex is a 16-year-old venture firm that has invested more than $900 million since its launch in 1988 in more than 300 portfolio companies worldwide.

Her appointment comes aftre Vertex founder Lee Kheng Nam left the firm for personal reasons.

Mui Hong was most recently president and CEO of ST Asset Management Pte Ltd, a branch of Singapore Technologies Pte Ltd (as is Vertex), which manages $2.26 billion in overseas clients’ funds.

Prior to her work at STAM, Mui Hong spent 11 years with one of Singapore’s three domestic banks, the Overseas Union Bank Limited Group, which she joined in 1990.

Under her stewardship, assets under management at OUB grew from $240 million to $3.3 billion by April 2002, making OUB the largest local bank-backed fund management houses in Singapore.
