Bencis Capital Partners has spun out of what was formerly NeSBIC Groep BV, a Fortis subsidiary. Bencis is the 15-strong buyout team of NeSBIC and will be targeting medium-sized companies in the Benelux countries and is responsible for the management of NeSBIC Buy Out Fund BV, established in 2000, and is fund manager of BENCIS Buy Out Fund II. The group’s most recent transaction since gaining independence is the secondary buyout of Meneba from CVC Capital Partners.
Fortis will continue to make investments in private equity with its remaining 11-strong team led by managing director Cees de Wit. Fortis was previously only active in private equity under the NesBic brand. Fortis is now operating under the Fortis Private Equity brand name. The existing investment professionals in the NesBic team who haven’t spun-out with the Bencis buyout team will transfer to Fortis by the end of the year. Fortis Private Equity is looking at companies with an enterprise value between €30m and €150m. De Wit’s plan for the future is to build a solid portfolio of successful Dutch companies
