The business development company Apollo Investment Corp. announced the appointment of Mark Harris as its CFO and treasurer on April 2. Until then, Gene Donnelly, the CFO of Apollo Global Management LLC, will continue as interim CFO and treasurer.
Jeff Clarke has joined Augusta Columbia Capital Group as a managing director the firm’s San Francisco office. Clarke is currently chairman of the board at both Travelport and Orbitz Worldwide. He is also an independent board member of Red Hat. Augusta Columbia is a mid-market buyout firm that focuses on growth and technology deals.
Boathouse Capital, a mid-market debt and equity fund, has named Colin Raws as the firm’s director of business development. Boathouse Capital is based in suburban Philadelphia. Raws previously served as associate director, business development at Milestone Partners.
CCMP Capital Advisors said that Dominique Fournier will become executive advisor to its U.K. affiliate. Fournier will work on industrial investment opportunities for CCMP in Europe and the U.S. Fournier was most recently CEO of Infineum International.
Nigel Doughty, a co-founder of the British buyout shop Doughty Hanson, died at his home. He was 54. Doughty co-founded the mid-market buyout shop in 1985 with Dick Hanson. Doughty was chairman of the firm’s investment committee.
First Reserve Corp., an energy-focused global investment firm, has expanded with two new appointments. Claudi Santiago joins as a managing director and chief operating officer and will be based in London. Irene Mavroyannis also joins as a managing director in its investor relations group and will be based in Greenwich, Conn.
Mark Tricolli has joined H.I.G. Growth Partners as a managing director. Previously, Tricolli worked as a partner at Enhanced Equity Fund, a lower mid-market buyout firm where he was responsible for investments in the health care industry.
Highland Capital Partners has added Jeremiah Daly as a principal based in the firm’s Cambridge, Mass., office. He will focus on identifying and leading later-stage investments in the information technology and digital media sectors. Daly joins from Accel Partners.
Brad Parish has joined Levine Leichtman Capital Partners as a managing director. He will be a member of the Deep Value investment team. Parish was most recently a principal at D.E. Shaw Direct Capital.
Growth equity firm Mainsail Partners announced that Stephen Wolfe has joined its staff as a principal, Taylor McKinley as vice president of technology and operations and Joe Mandato as a senior adviser. The firm also promoted Kyle Hency and Sheldon Lewis to senior associate. Mainsail Partners is based in San Francisco.
John Weinzierl was named a venture partner at Natural Gas Partners. Weinzierl is CEO of Memorial Resource Development as well as CEO and chairman of the board for the general partner of Memorial Production Partners. Previously, he spent 12 years at NGP Energy Capital Management, most recently as managing director and operating partner of its Natural Gas Partners funds.
Northern Trust said that Brad Dorchinecz was promoted to director of private equity in the Northern Trust Alternatives Group. Dorchinecz previously served as co-founder of the Private Equity Funds of Funds Group, Northern Trust said.
Jaime Londoño has joined Pantheon as principal and head of Latin American investments. He joins from Wilshire, where he was a vice president working on primary, secondary and co-investments in the U.S. and Latin America. Pantheon is a private equity fund investor with $24 billion under management.
Swedish private equity firm Segulah Advisor has recruited Lars Axelson to be its director of operations and control. Axelson was previously CFO of the firm’s portfolio company Gunnebo Industries and has been CFO of three other sponsor-backed companies. The firm also promoted both Erik Thornell, head of banking, and Håkan Dahlin, CFO, to partner.
David Roux, a Silver Lake co-founder and chairman, was named to the National Audubon Society’s board of directors. Audubon connects people with birds, nature and the environment.
Growth equity firm Summit Partners has opened a new office in Mumbai. The office is being run by Amit Chaturvedy, director India. Associates Gaurav Prakash and Miloni Shah are joining him on the team.
Tonka Bay Equity Partners named Kory Kutchmarek as an investment associate. Kutchmarek previously was a manager in the Minneapolis office of the accounting firm Ernst & Young. Minnetonka, Minn.-based Tonka Bay Equity Partners focuses on lower mid-market businesses in the manufacturing, business services and distribution sectors.
Portfolio companiesAnders Pettersson has been appointed CEO and member of the board at Hilding Anders, a provider of beds and mattresses and an Arle Capital Partners portfolio company. Pettersson takes over from Gunnar Johansson who joined in May 2011 as interim CEO. Johansson will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
Kelley Blue Book, a provider of new and used vehicle information and wholly owned subsidiary of AutoTrader.com, announced that its president, Paul Johnson, has resigned from his position. Johnson will become a strategic advisor to the company. AutoTrader.com vice president Jared Rowe will assume the role president of Kelley Blue Book. AutoTrader.com is a majority-owned subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. Providence Equity Partners is a 25 percent owner of the company and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers is also a backer.
Service providersJonathan Wease has joined Aequitas Capital Management, a manager of alternative investment products, as vice president of portfolio management. Brian Zeck was named a managing director in the firm’s asset management business unit.
Avante Mezzanine Partners has added Dan Moss as a senior associate in the firm’s Los Angeles offices. Moss worked previously as a senior associate with Amalgamated Capital in New York. Earlier he was an associate at MetLife Investments and held positions in the mezzanine and workout units.
John Rakowski has joined Clearsight Advisors as a director. He joins Clearsight from Carl Marks Advisory Group where he focused on M&A and financial restructuring deals. Before this, Rakowski was with Houlihan Lokey’s business services practice.
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom partner Roger Aaron has died; the leader of corporate transactions for firms like Mobil, Time Warner and Compaq was 69. He is survived by a wife, Ginny, sons Peter and Todd, mother Phyllis, sister Caroline, daughter-in-law Jessica and grandsons Nate and Will.
Nordic investor CapMan has announced several promotions. Mika Matikainen has been nominated senior partner at and Alexander Vlasov, Karl Åberg and Niklas Östborn as partners.
San Francisco-based middle-market buyout shop Genstar Capital has promoted Rob Rutledge and Anthony Salewski to principal. Both were previously vice presidents at the firm. Rutledge has worked at Genstar since 2003, and previously worked in the investment banking division of Salomon Smith Barney in San Francisco. Salewski joined Genstar in 2007 and has served as a vice president since 2010. Prior to joining Genstar, he was the chief of staff for operations at Barclays Global Investors.
