• Charles Flynn has been named head of fund investing at DB Capital Partners. In that role, he will oversee all of Deutsche Bankís private equity fund investing activities and manage both the fund-of-funds and the secondary fund investing businesses. Flynn will be based in the firmís New York office.

• John Sidgmore is slated to join New Enterprise Associates (NEA) as a venture partner in the firmís information technology practice. He currently serves as chairman and CEO of NEA portfolio company eCommerce Industries Inc., a Vienna, Va.-based Internet provider. Sidgmore will retain that post after joining NEA. Sidgmore will be based in NEAís Reston, Va., office, and will focus on communications services and communications infrastructure companies.

• J. Duncan Grierson and Anthony Simler have joined private equity firm Lake Capital as a vice president and associate, respectively. Both will be based in the firmís London office. Most recently, Grierson was a director with Galileo Partners. Previously, Simler was an associate director with the Royal Bank of Scotlandís leveraged finance group.

• David Coats and Sandra Moon have been named general partners at Hamilton Technology Ventures. Coats is now a venture partner with Windamere Venture Partners and will join Hamilton at year-end to focus on life sciences investments. Previously, Moon held positions at both Apex Venture Partners and Unitech Research. At Hamilton, she will concentrate on beefing up the firmís IT portfolio. With $55 million under management, Hamilton Technology Ventures invests mostly in Southern California.

• Matthew Cowan has been hired as a general partner at BayStar Capital. Cowan hails from Bowman Capital, where he was instrumental in founding the firmís private equity group.
