Rupert Bell has joined 3i Group as a London-based director within the firm’s growth capital unit. He previously served as a director with San Aire Private Equity (bought by Dunedin in 2005).

Paul Bagatelas has joined The Carlyle Group as a managing director for investor relations and senior executive officer of the firm’s new office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He previously was a director with Credit Suisse in Dubai, as team leader for special coverage in the Middle East.

Saad Bargach has joined energy-focused private equity firm Lime Rock Partners as a Houston-based managing director. He previously served as chief information officer with Well Completions & Productivity.

Nicholas Bologna has joined Eastward Capital Partners as a director. He is a former senior advisor of I-banking at Needham & Co. Eastward is a West Newton, Mass.-based venture debt firm.

John Bond, former chairman of HSBC, has joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. as a senior advisor.

CapMan has added four new “Industrial Advisors.” They are: Erik Prydz Mathisen, an independent consultant who most recently held positions within Nike Europe; Jari Pasanen, vice president of strategy and technology at Nokia Multimedia; Terje Thon, an independent consultant whose past jobs include president of Telenor AS and CEO of TBK AS; Barbara Thoralfsen, who previously served as president of TeliaSonera Norway and; Rune Thoralfsen, director and founder of Fleming Invest AS.

Liu Chuanzhi and Edward Tian have joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. as senior advisors to the firm in China. Chuanzhi is the president of Legend Holdings, and is the former chairman and president of Lenovo Group. Tian is the founder and chairman of China Broadband Capital Partners, the first government-sponsored TMT sector-focused private equity fund in China. Tian also is vice chairman and former CEO of China Netcom Group.

Clearview Capital has added three professionals: Paul Caliento as a principal, who previously was with auditing and consulting firm Flackman, Goodman & Potter, Brad Simpson as controller, who previously was with Palmeri Fund Administrators, and Amanda Birnbaum as director of marketing, who previously was director of graphic design for Not Traditional Media Inc. Clearview also has promoted Matt Rumilly to vice president.

Erich Horsley and Frederick Malloy have joined Intervale Capital as principals. Erich previously was a principal with Watermill Ventures, while Malloy was a general partner with North Atlantic Capital. Intervale is a Cambridge, Mass.-based buyout firm focused on the lower-middle-market energy sector, with a specialization in oilfield services companies.

Roger Hurwitz has left Apax Partners, where he was a partner focused on the enterprise software and technology-enabled services spaces. He joined the firm in 1999, before which he had been a vice president with GE Equity. No word yet on his future plans.

Scott Kapnick plans to step down as one of Goldman Sachs‘ three co-heads of investment banking, effective at year-end. There are no current plans to name a replacement, with remaining co-heads John Weinberg and David Solomon continuing to serve in their positions.

Mark Kenderdine-Davies has been named general counsel and chief compliance officer of CDC Group PLC, a U..K. government-backed private equity fund-of-funds focused on emerging markets. He previously served as legal counsel with Gartmore Investment Management.

Bob Milsted and Solomon Babani have joined Celtic Pharmaceutical Holdings, a global private equity firm focused on the biotech and pharma markets. Milsted will serve as a managing director and head of European development, having previously been with AstraZeneca as vice president of global regulatory affairs for oncology and infection. Banai will serve as director of contracts and vendor management, and previously was associate director in the CRO management group of Novartis Pharmaceuticals.

Robert Seery has joined GSC Group as a New York-based senior vice president in the firm’s Structured Finance group. He previously was with International Asset Transactions as chief operating officer.

Clifton Strain has joined CIT Group as a managing director in the firm’s Sponsor Finance unit. He previously was with Wachovia Securities.

Paul Stewart, a principal of private equity firm PS Capital Partners, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). He succeeds Patrick Hurley, managing director of MidMarket Capital Advisors.

Andrew Torgove has joined Goldsmith Agio Helms as head of its distressed advisory and restructuring practice. He previously was co-head of the New York distressed M&A practice at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin.

Nobuyoshi Yamanaka, former president and CEO of Emerson Electric Japan and of GE Hitachi Lighting, has joined Bain Capital’s portfolio group as an operating partner. He also has been named chairman of Conlux, the Japanese subsidiary of Bain portfolio company MEI Conlux.
