John Vrolyk has joined Warburg Pinus as a partner in its Menlo Park, Calif.-based office. Vrolyk has been a senior technology executive in a number of early stage companies, including 3ware, Silicon Graphics and Xerox. In his new role, Vrolyk will help define areas of strategic focus for the IT group.

Faysal Sohail has been promoted to the position of general partner within CMEA Ventures. He joined the firm as a venture partner after serving as CEO of Cadabra Design Automation Inc.

Nandini Tandon has joined RBC Capital PartnersĂ­ new San Francisco office as a partner focused on life sciences investing.

Bill Bock and Eric Jones have joined CenterPoint Ventures as general partners. Bock was previously CEO of Dazel Corp., while Jones has an ongoing partnership role in Memphis-based SSM VenturesĂ­ Funds I and II and an advisory role with Verity Ventures.

Aaron Davidson has joined Toronto-based Ventures West as a vice president. He was most recently vice president of corporate business development at SYN-X Pharma Inc.

Allan Ferguson, a managing director with 3i Group, has been named to the National Venture Capital AssociationĂ­sboard of directors.

Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, has agreed to chair the board of advisors of Leeds Weld Equity Partners IV.

David Haynes has joined Financial Technology Ventures as the San Francisco-based firmĂ­s administrative partner. Between 1999 and 2001, Haynes was executive vice president and general counsel of OffRoad Inc.

Chip Hazard has joined IDG Ventures as a general partner. He has spent the past eight years as a general partner with Greylock.

Ken Leonard, Andy Marek and Al Ricchio have joined Cerberus Capital Management as managing directors. Leonard previously led GE CapitalĂ­s merchant banking syndications team. Marek and Ricchio were co-managers of a $1 billion portfolio at Heller Financial.

Blake Modersitzki has joined Utah Venture Partners as a Salt Lake City-based venture partner. He was previously vice president of Novell Ventures.

Len Rand has been named a managing director with Granite Ventures. He was previously general manager of strategic marketing and global alliances at Intel Corp.
