Richard Burgoon, has joined the Xmark Funds, a New York-based life sciences investment firm, as a principal. Burgoon served as a general counsel and secretary to Arena Pharmaceuticals.

Debanjan Ray has joined JPMorgan Partners as an associate in the firmís San Francisco office. Ray was most recently at McKinsey & Co. At his new post, Ray will be focusing on life science investments. Ray was placed at JPMorgan Partners by Glocap Search LLC of New York.

Scott Elaine Case has joined The Shansby Group as a principal. Previously, Case had been managing director at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown. Additionally, Alex Pano has been promoted from vice president to principal at the San Francisco firm and Yasser Toor has been promoted from associate to senior associate.

Abhay Havaldar has joined General Atlantic Partners LLC as a principal. Prior to joining General Atlantic, Havaldar was a co-founder and partner of ConnectCapital, a private investment group focused on technology companies that are active in India. Havaldar will continue to be based in Mumbai, India, deepening General Atlanticís global investment reach in Asia.

Graeme Johnson and Carol Pirzio-Biroli have been named directors with DB Capital Partnersí private equity fund of funds team. Together, Johnson and Pirzio-Biroli will be establishing a London office for the fund-of-funds group, responsible for non-U.S. fundraising, structuring, and investing activities.

Jack Gao has joined Walden International as a general partner and managing director of its China operations. Most recently, he was president of Microsoft (China) Co. Ltd., in charge of strategic business development and Microsoftís overall business operations in China.
