Fredrik Arp has joined Candover as a senior advisor focused on the Nordic region and European industrials sector. He previously was president and CEO of Volvo Car Corp.

Arsenal Capital Partners has promoted Christopher Johnson to vice president and Jeffrey Moffett to senior associate. Johnson joined the firm last year as a senior associate, while Moffett joined in 2006 as an associate.

BC Partners announced that chairman Jens Reidel has retired, effective immediately. He will be succeeded by Francesco Loredan and Raymond Svider, who will serve as co-chairman. The firm also said that it has hired Jonathan Hosgood away from Barclays Capital, in order to pursue debt market opportunities.

Brian Bode

is leaving his executive director post with UBS Investment Bank, where he had been a placement agent for private equity real estate funds. No word yet on his future plans. Prior to joining UBS in August 2005, Bode had been with Atlantic Pacific Capital.

Charles Bott has joined BC Partners as a managing director and co-head of investor relations. He is the former European chairman of financial sponsors at Goldman Sachs Group.

Olivier Blechner has stepped down as European head of TPG Credit Management, according to The Financial Times.

Matt Blunt, the outgoing Governor of Missouri, has agreed to join Solamere Capital as a senior advisor. Solamere is a Boston-based buyout firm looking to raise $200 million for its debut fund. Its founding partners include Tagg Romney, Spencer Zwick, John Miller and Eric Scheuermann.

Kent Carstater has joined Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. as a managing director in the firm’s Financial Institutions practice. He previously was with Resource America Inc., where he served as president of a private equity subsidiary.

Mark Dempster, Steven Satov and Kevin Tscherne have joined Thomas Weisel Partners Group. Dempster will be an I-banking managing director focused on health care, and joins from Banc of America Securities. Satov will be a managing director of institutional sales, and previously was with Merrill Lynch Canada. Tscherne will be a director in trading focused on healthcare, and comes from Citi.

Paul Dickerson has joined Pegasus Capital Advisors as an operating advisor. He is the former COO of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

Alex Edwards has joined the Shanghai office of placement agent C.P. Eaton Partners, as a vice president leading expansion into Australia, New Zealand and South Asia. He previously was with Franklin Templeton Investments in Hong Kong and London.

Bob Ennis has joined Petsky Prunier LLC to lead the firm’s digital media practice. He previously was founder and president of Tensor Advisors and, before that, was a vice president of IAC/InterActiveCorp.

GTI Group has promoted Ruzgar Barisik to partner. He originally joined the firm in 2006 as a principal.

Vanessa Indriolo, director of private equity at Fifth Third Bank, has been elected to the board of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA). She will serve as two-year term.

Larry Klane has joined CVC Capital Partners as a senior advisor, focused on the financial services sector. He is the former president of Capital One Financial’s global financial services division.

KPMG has named Honson To as regional head of private equity for the Asia-Pacific region. He has been a partner with KPMG China since 2003.

Lime Rock Partners, an energy-focused private equity firm, has promoted Will Franklin, J McLane and Simon Munro to the position of managing director. Lime Rock also has hired Kris Agarwal as director and assistant general counsel.

Scott Maierhofer has joined McCarthy Capital as a Denver-based partner. He previously was co-president of Green Manning & Bunch.

Marathon Asset Management has named five new partners: Andrew Rabinowitz (Chief Operating Officer), Richard Ronzetti (Global Investment Management & Head of Research), Jon Halpern (Head of Real Estate), Steve Kim (CIO of Asia) and Adam Phillips (CIO of Europe).

Greg Margolies has joined Ares Management as a senior partner and head of the firm’s capital markets group. He previously was with Merrill Lynch, as a managing director and head of global leveraged finance and capital commitments.

Joe Marren has left Sagent Advisors, where he had been a managing director since 2005. peHUB has learned that he has formed a new firm called K Stone Partners, where he’ll serve as president and CEO. No details on K Stone have been disclosed. Prior to joining Sagent, MArren was global head of M&A business development for Citigroup.

Ron Marshall has joined Borders Group as chief executive officer, replacing George Jones. He previously was co-founding principal of private equity firm Wildridge Capital Management.

Whit Matthews has joined SL Capital Partners as an investment manager focused on private equity. He previously worked in the University of Pennsylvania’s investment office as an associate.

John Paul McGrath has joined Close Brothers as a managing director focused on expanding the firm’s European financial services coverage into the United Kingdom. He has spent the past nine years with NM Rothschild & Sons.

Ezra Merkin has resigned as chairman of GMAC LLC, the finance company co-owned by Cerberus Capital Management and General Motors. He was recently sued by investors in his firm Ascot Partners, in relation to the Bernie Madoff scandal.

OnCap, a Toronto-based private equity firm focused on the middle market, has promoted Mark MacTavish to managing director, and Evan Hershberg and Ryan Mashinter to director.

Riverside Partners has promoted Philip Borden to general partner. He joined the firm in 2005, before which he spent time at both Oxford Bioscience Partners and Frazier Healthcare Ventures.

Robert Rubin, former U.S. Treasury Secretary under President Clinton, has stepped down as senior counselor to Citigroup. He will remain a director until the bank’s annual meeting later this year.

Tomoya Shiraishi has left Permira, where he had been co-head of Japanese operations. Fellow co-head Alex Emry said Shiraishi left for his own reasons and that he does not yet have a new job lined up.

Trivest Partners has promoted Jorge Gross Jr. to principal. He had joined the firm as a vice president in 2006.

Verso Paper Corp. (NYSE: VRS) announced that Josh Harris of Apollo Management has resigned from the company’s board of directors, and that he will be succeeded by fellow Apollo partner Eric Press.

David Wathen, a one-time general partner with Questor Management Co., has been named president and CEO of TriMas Corp. (NYSE: TRS). He most recently served as president and CEO of North American Operations for Balfour Beatty Inc.

Mark Watt has joined America’s Growth Capital as a partner in the firm’s Menlo Park investment banking group. He previously was a director of technology I-banking with Merrill Lynch.

Wells Fargo & Co. named Robert Engel and Jonathan Weiss as co-heads of the firm’s investment banking and capital markets business. The two had been in similar roles with Wachovia, which Wells Fargo acquired last week for approximately $12.7 billion.

Jeffrey Wood has joined Eagle Rock Energy Partners (Nasdaq: EROC) as senior vice president and CFO. He previously was with Lehman Brothers as a senior vice president and portfolio manager in the firm’s private equity division.
