Alvarez & Marsal Transaction Advisory Group has staffed up with the following hires: Geoff Weber, formerly of KPMG, as a Chicago-based director; Andrew Henoch, formerly of PricewaterhouseCoopers, as a Chicago-based senior associate; Alexander Chan, formerly of Deloitte & Touche, as a San Francisco-based director and; Brad Goldsmith, formerly of Ernst & Young, as a New York-based senior associate.

Dean Anderson has joined American Capital Strategies Ltd. as a managing director in the firm’s special situations group. He will be charged with building a Chicago-based team to complement an existing group in Bethesda, Maryland. Anderson previously was a managing director with Questor Management Co.

Berkshire Partners has promoted Michael Ascione to the position of managing director. He joined the firm in 2001, and had been serving as a principal.

Charles Berg, former CEO of Oxford Health Plans, has joined Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe as a New York-based senior operating executive.

Norman Bobins, CEO of LaSalle Bank, announced that he will retire at year-end. He will be succeeded by Larry Richman, who currently oversees LaSalle’s commercial banking operations.

Paul Bodet has joined RSM EquiCo Capital Markets LLC as a Chicago-based vice president, focused on the technology sector. He previously was with TechCap Advisors in Boston.

Carmen Carpenter has joined GE Commercial Finance-Global Media and Communications as a vice president focused on film finance. She previously was a vice president in Comerica Bank’s entertainment group.

Thierry CĂ©lestin has joined Activa Capital as a partner, after having previously been a France-based partner with Cinven. In other Activa Capital news, the firm promoted Christophe Parier from director to partner.

Philip Curatilo has joined Key Principal Partners as a Richmond, Va.-based principal. He previously was a managing director with Westham Capital Partners and, before that, was a general partner with Riverside Partners. Key Principal Partners has also made four promotions: Cindy Babitt to partner; Beth Laschinger and Sean Mooney were to vice president; and Dan Kessler to senior associate.

Paige Daly has joined LNK Partners as a managing director. She previously was with Apax Partners as a partner in the firm’s retail and consumer group.

David Dodson has joined Salem Partners as a director of wealth management. He previously was a vice president with Essential Advisors Inc.

Inder Duggal has joined MMV Financial as COO and CFO. He previously was CFO, secretary, treasurer and director of Canadian technology company Hummingbird Ltd.

Stuart Duty has joined Piper Jaffray as a managing director and co-head of its Healthcare I-banking team. He previously was a partner, COO and director of strategic investments with Oracle Investment Management.

Hassan El-Khatib has joined The Carlyle Group as a Cairo-based managing director focused on opportunities in Egypt and Northern Africa. He previously was with EFG-Hermes Private Equity.

First Reserve Corp. has promoted Glenn Payne to director and Anne Gold to chief administrative officer. Payne joined the firm in March 2004 as a vice president, while Gold joined in February 2005 as general counsel. The firm also has promoted Rahman D’Argenio, Brian Lee, Tim O’Keeffe, Jeff Quake and Josh Weiner to vice president; and Kristin Custar to director of investor relations.

Roger Holstein has joined Vestar Capital Partners as a managing director. He previously was CEO of WebMD Corp.

Lincoln International has promoted Andrew Bohutinsky to managing director. He originally joined the firm as a vice president in early 2002, and was promoted to senior vice president in June 2005. He heads up the firm’s building products industry group.

Steven Morgenthal has joined Argosy Partners as an operating partner. He previously was a venture partner with SCP Private Equity and CEO of SCP portfolio company Q Group Holdings.

Hironobu Nakano has joined CITIC Capital Partners as a managing director and head of Japanese operations. Nakano previously was a managing director of the Industrial Revitalization Corp. of Japan and a founding member of Advantage Partners.

Clive Norton has joined Helix Associates, a private equity fund placement subsidiary of Jefferies International, as a London-based managing director. He previously was with Goldman Sachs as co-head of European private equity.

Ralph Parks has joined Oaktree Capital Management as chairman of its Asia-Pacific operations. He previously was chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Asia Pacific.

J. Stanley Pepper has joined Lake Capital as an executive advisor. He is former CEO of Pepper Construction Co. and is a managing partner with Green Products, a company that develops and manufactures products for the green building market. He also runs Pepper Research and Consulting Services.

Adam Roseman, founder and CEO of ARC Investment Partners, has been named interim CEO of Xyience Inc., a Los Angeles–based maker of healthy snack bars, beverages and nutritional supplements. A permanent CEO search is underway.

Bruce Scherr, chairman and CEO of Informa Economics, has joined Metalmark Capital in an advisory role. He will help the firm extend its presence in the agriculture and natural resources sectors.

Diane Smith has been named director of capital markets for Grameen Foundation, where she will source new financing opportunities for poverty-focused microfinance institutions (MFIs) by facilitating linkages between MFIs and international and local capital markets. She previously was a managing director and senior portfolio manager at Electra Investment Trust PLC, where she focused on the UK-based firm’s U.S. private equity portfolio and an expansion into South America.

Chris Stabler has agreed to join CVC Partners to help to UK firm enter the U.S. market. Stabler currently is a senior managing director with Investcorp, and head of its North American private equity team.

Larry Stevenson has joined Toronto-based private equity firm Callisto Capital as a managing director. He previously was CEO of Pep Boys and, before that, helped launch and run the Canadian practice of Bain & Company.

Thomas V. Taylor has joined Sun Capital Partners as a managing director. He had spent the past 23 years with Home Depot, most recently as chief marketing officer and executive vice president of merchandising.

TRG, a New York–based turnaround advisory firm, has promoted Tim Lewis to principal. He will continue to lead the firm’s new performance improvement practice.
