Hedge fund hires energy investor

reportedly has joined hedge fund Ospraie Management to help make private equity-type deals in the energy sector. He previously focused on the energy sector for J.P. Morgan Chase’s U.S. domestic growth equity and leveraged buyout group.

Union Square adds Parker

Andrew Parker

has agreed to join Union Square Ventures as an analyst, effective Sept. 5. He previously was a product designer with Homestead Technologies Inc.

Bain adds to venture team

Todd MacLean has joined Bain Capital Ventures as a principal, after having been a vice president with Summit Partners. In other Bain news, Whitney Bowman has joined the buyout team as an associate. Bowman is a recent Harvard Business School grad and previously was with Highland Capital Partners.

Neuman to leave Maveron

Judy Neuman

is leaving Seattle-based venture firm Maveron later this month, as initially reported by The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. She joined Maveron as a venture partner in 1999. Her current board seats include Lucy, Kinetix Living and Auctionpay. She also is a board observer with Babystyle and Cranium. No word yet on her future plans.

Levene on tap to join Accel

Simon Levene

, Yahoo’s managing director of corporate development, will join Accel Partners in October. The VC firm invests from a London-based office, where Levene is likely to be based. Prior to Yahoo, Levene was vice president of business affairs at AOL Time Warner, where he led joint ventures, investments and M&A activities internationally.
