VantagePoint Venture Partners named Stephen Diamond as managing director, and Duncan Davidson and Jay Shiveley as venture partners. Diamond will focus on communications investment, after having served as a general partner for five years with the Sprout Group. Davidsonwas founder and CEO with SkyPilot Networks Inc. while Shiveley was previously a venture partner with Sprout Group.

Dr. Genghis Lloyd-Harris has joined Abingworth ManagementĂ­s life sciences team in London as a partner. Lloyd-Harris was previously a managing director in Credit Suisse First BostonĂ­s European Equity research group.

Charles ìChuckî Pieper has joined Credit Suisse First Boston as a managing director in the firmís new Alternative Capital Division. He was a partner with Clayton, Dubilier & Rice since 1997.

Tim Harned joined Capstone Partners as a managing director. He previously worked at Covington Associates.

Eitan Bek, a senior associate with Pitango Venture Capital, has joined the board of directors at Pitango portfolio company PacketLight Networks Ltd.

Bill McGlashan has joined TPG Ventures, the VC affiliate of Texas Pacific Group, as a managing director. McGlashan is the former CEO of Critical Path Inc.

Richard Frank, CEO of Darby Overseas Investments Ltd., has been named chairman of the board of directors for the Latin American Venture Capital Association. He replaces Everett Santos, CEO of the AIG-GE Capital Latin American Infrastructure Fund.

Winston Fu, a general partner with U.S. Venture Partners, has joined the board of directors for Bookham Technology PLC.

Woody Benson has joined Prism Venture Partners as a general partner. He most recently headed the Boston office of Lazard Technology Partners, and previously served as chairman, president and CEO of MCK Communications Inc.

Mark Lama and John Benitz joined West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Crossbow Ventures as partners. Lama most recently served as a principal with UBS Capital Americas. Benitz comes from Odyssey Venture Group in Hong Kong.

Roger McNamee, co-founder and managing director of Silver Lake Partners, is reducing his role on the firmĂ­s second fund (currently being raised). He will now serve in an advisory capacity.
