G. Larry Wilson has joined Pequot Ventures as a venture partner. The firm is the venture investment arm of Pequot Capital Management Inc. in New York.
Most recently, Wilson was a co-founder and managing general partner of The Trelys Funds, an early stage venture firm in South Carolina. Wilson has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance software and services market. Before that, he served as chairman, president and CEO of Mynd Corp., a provider of software and outsourcing services for the insurance and financial services industries.
For Pequot, he will split time between the New York office and his home in South Carolina.
Pequot is obviously looking to use Wilson’s knowhow in the financial services software industry as the firm has been active in that sector with recent investments in Duck Creek Technologies, a provider of policy management systems and services for insurance carriers; Superior Access, a technology enabled distribution network of more than 4,000 insurance agents nationwide; and Swingtide, a consulting services company advising insurance and financial services firms on IT strategy and business operations.
