Photobucket clicks with investors

Photobucket Inc., which provides free online hosting for video and photos, has expanded its Series B round to more than $14 million. In May 2006, Palo Alto, Calif.-based Photobucket announced that it raised a $10.5 million round that was led by Trinity Ventures.Trinty GP Gus Tai then joined the company’s baord. A regulatory filing indicates that some of the expanded Series B capital came from an affiliate of Insight Venture Partners and a Colorado-based entity called Red Tail Hawk. Individual investors, including some associated with Insight Venture Partners, had previously seeded the company. The Photobucket site (Photobucket) was launched in 2003, and it has capitalized from the growth of social networking sites, such as MySpace.com, which typically have limitations on the number of images users can upload. —Alastair Goldfisher
