3i Group confirmed that Tighe Sullivan died in a helicopter crash. Sullivan co-founded WCAS Fraser Sullivan in 2005 along with John Fraser. In August, 3i announced a joint venture with WCAS Fraser Sullivan, a debt specialist, to launch a U.S. unit. Fraser and Sullivan were to be co-heads of 3i Direct Management once the deal was completed. Sullivan, 51, was killed on his way back from a corporate golf outing in in Pennsylvania.

Buyout firm BelHealth Investment Partners has added Richard Friedman, Anurag Mehta, and Gopi Natarajan to its operating committee. Friedman served most recently as chairman and CEO of BioScrip Inc., a publicly traded specialty pharmacy. Mehta was the co-founder of Omega Healthcare. Natarajan is also co-founder of Omega Healthcare, and serves as its president and chief executive.

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has named Cheryl Eason as its CFO, a newly created position to oversee the financial and risk management operations of the $243 billion pension fund. Eason was most recently a vice president for the British Columbia Pension Corp., one of the largest pension benefit administrators in Canada, and the largest in British Columbia.

CVC Capital Partners has appointed James Schiro as a senior adviser to the firm. Schiro will become a member of CVC’s U.S. and global financial institutions advisory boards to support CVC’s investment activities in the US and in the financial services sector globally. Schiro is a former chairman and CEO of Zurich Financial Services AG and currently serves on the board of the Goldman Sachs Group Inc., among other titles.

Peter Gudwin has joined H.I.G. Capital as an associate. He will be based in New York City. Gudwin previously worked as a vice president at JH Whitney, and also as an associate at The Blackstone Group.

UK lower mid-market investor NBGI Private Equity has appointed David Turner as an investment manager on the UK team. Turner joins from the credit bureau Experian, where he was as a member of its corporate development team.

The Pritzker Group, based in Chicago, has added to investment professionals to its mid-market private equity team: Mark Bowman and Jeff Verde. Bowman, who was hired as a vice president, was previous a principal at Austin Ventures, where he spent nine years. Verde, hired as an associate, was previously an investment banking analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co.

Quantum Energy Partners has named Eric Nielsen managing director of business development. Previously, Nielsen was a managing director at Korn/Ferry International. Quantum Energy Partners focuses on investments in the global energy industry.
