Specialty finance firm Ares Capital Corp. has appointed Michael J. Arougheti as co-chairman of the board. Arougheti is a co-founder of Ares Management and has been a senior executive since 2004. Also, the firm has promoted Kipp deVeer to CEO and Mitchell S. Goldstein and Michael L. Smith as co-presidents. deVeer has been a senior executive with Ares Management since 2004, Goldstein since 2005, and Smith since 2004.

Brand & Oppenheimer Co has appointed Lizz Gillcrist as business development and marketing manager of protective fabrics. Gillcrist was previously product specialist in the advanced concepts group for Polartec. Red Bank, New Jersey-based Brand & Oppenheimer, a supplier to the textile industry, is owned by company management and Praesidian Capital.

California State Teachers’ Retirement System has promoted Lisa Blatnick to chief of administrative services. As chief of administrative services, Blatnick will oversee the strategic direction, policy development and management of the Administrative Services Branch. Blatnick joined CalSTRS in 2003 and has been director of facilities management and planning since 2007.

Deloitte has named Patrick Henry, a partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP, as vice chairman and leader of the cross-functional investment management practice in the United States. Henry succeeds Cary Stier, who will now lead Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd member firms’ investment management practice globally. Henry will be responsible for development of key sector initiatives across Deloitte’s audit, tax, consulting and advisory businesses.

Asset manager Medley has promoted senior managing director Brian Dohmen to head of direct lending in the Eastern Region. Dohmen works to develop Medley’s relationships with private equity firms, investment banks and corporate borrowers.

Partners Group has opened a Houston office to focus on coverage in the United States. and Latin America. Todd Bright, managing director and head of infrastructure Americas, will head the office. The office is Partners Group’s third in the United States and 18th in total.

Chicago investment bank Verit Advisors has promoted Patrick Kane and Alex McVey to senior associate. Kane joined Verit in July 2011 as an associate. McVey also joined as an associate.
