RBS appoints in Madrid

Royal Bank of Scotland’s leveraged finance team has made a new hire for its Madrid office. Beltran Paredes will head the bank’s leveraged finance operation in Madrid and will be responsible for all the acquisition and mezzanine finance activities in Spain and Portugal. Paredes is ex-head of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein’s Spanish acquisition finance team. Paredes reports to the joint heads of leveraged finance Eric Mallaroni and Euan Hamilton.

Paredes is joined by Rocio Cuenca-Torres, who joined RBS in London in 1989 and has been in the leveraged finance team for the last five years. Cuenca-Torres moved to Paris in late 1998 has been instrumental in building RBS leveraged finance’s position in the French LBO debt market. During this time Cuenca-Torres was also responsible for covering the Spanish market.

Eric Mallaroni said: “By opening successively in Germany, France and Italy over the last three years, we have now with our new office in Madrid achieved most of our European network and enhanced our pan-European origination and execution coverage.”

RBS opened its office in Madrid in 2001 and until Paredes appointment and Cuenca-Torres relocation has concentrated on real estate finance, project finance and corporate banking
