Round II for Sphera

Tlcom Capital Partners (Tlcom) and Jerusalem Venture Partners have led the second round of financing for Sphera Corporation, which provides hosting automation software, totalling $15 million. Gemini Israel Funds also participated in the round. Sphera said it is expecting even more funds as part of this round. The funds from this round of financing will be used to help grow the company and implement its “aggressive business plan,” said Sphera’s CEO Tamor Noar.

Last October Gemini led Sphera’s first round with the participation of Jerusalem Venture Partners, Reuters Venture Capital, and CSK Venture Capital. Back in 1999, Jerusalem Venture Partners had provided Sphera with its initial seed capital.

Sphera’s main product, HostingDirector automates all aspects of a web hosting operation. It automates the time consuming tasks of web hosting operation and streamlines their operations and reduces costs.

The company’s client base spans Europe, Japan and the US. These include customers such as Toshiba in Japan, POPTEL in the UK and Dialtone in the US. More recently, Mitsui has become Sphera’s exclusive distributor in Japan.

Founded in 1998, Sphera pioneers new approaches for IDCs, ISPs and Web hosting providers, delivering value-added applications and Web services. The company is headquartered in Boston with additional offices in Frankfurt, London and Washington D.C. with its R&D facilities located in Israel.
