Serial entrepreneur joins Wellington

Pan-European VC firm Wellington Partners has appointed Alexandre Gonthier as a venture partner.

Serial entrepreneur Gonthier previously co-founded iPIN/Valista and was the initial CTO of Paymo. In the past five years, he has been acting as a business angel and fundraising advisor and has aided the development of companies like BuyVIP, ScreenTonic, Mobile 365 and Ruckus Wireless.

He joins Wellington’s nine-strong venture partner technology team in Europe and the US. The venture partners team includes Eric Ly, the former co-founder and CTO of LinkedIn, Ram Srinivasan, former CEO of Fireclick, LoĂ¯c Le Meur, CEO of Seesmic, and Royston Hoggarth, the chief executive of BT’s Global Services business. The venture partners advise and support portfolio companies in their strategic planning, executive hires and business development.

With €800m under management and offices in London, Munich, Palo Alto and Zurich, Wellington Partners invests in European companies in digital media, cleantech, electronics, software and life sciences.

The firm has invested in more than 100 companies in Europe and Israel since 1998, including now publicly traded Actelion and XING and privately held companies like Alando (acquired by eBay), Ciao (acquired by Microsoft) and ImmobilienScout24 (acquired by Deutsche Telekom).
