Publicly traded, New York-based CTPartners Executive Search has hired Mark Hexamer, who was most recently a partner with the search firm Fortis Partners, where he worked with venture-backed technology and consumer organizations.

JMP Group, a San Francisco-based investment bank and asset management firm, has appointed Jeffrey Porphy as a managing director. Porphy, who will focus on M&A and serve as head of financial sponsors coverage, comes to JMP from Cowen & Co., where he held the same title.

Qatalyst Group, a technology-focused independent investment bank, has appointed Marcie Vu as a partner. Vu, most recently head of consumer Internet investment banking at Morgan Stanley, will be based at Qatalyst’s San Francisco headquarters and will advise technology companies and private investment firms on mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments in the Internet sector globally.

Ryan Dammeyer has joined Square 1 Bank as a vice president for the Midwest region. He will be based in Chicago and responsible for building the bank’s portfolio of clients in the technology and life sciences sectors. Dammeyer previously was CFO at Liquidus Marketing.

Stout Risius Ross, a global financial advisory firm specializing in investment banking, dispute advisory and forensic services, valuation and financial opinions has appointed Nick P. Jachim as a managing director in its Chicago office and as leader of the investment banking group. Jachim was formerly a managing director in the Chicago office of KPMG Corporate Finance, where he most recently served as leader of the Consumer Markets group.

Wells Fargo Insurance, part of Wells Fargo & Co., named Richard Colton head of its mergers and acquisitions industry practice. Colton, who will be based in new York, previously served as co-founder of Aon’s mergers and acquisitions group and was also former chairman of Lockton’s mergers and acquisitions group.
