French VC Seventure Partners has made its first investment outside of Continental Europe by leading a €6m second funding round for BiancaMed, an Irish medical technology company.
Other backers include existing investors ePlanetVentures, Enterprise Ireland and ResMed, a US-headquartered developer of equipment for the treatment and management of sleep-disordered breathing problems.
The money raised will be used to accelerate its go to market strategy with its SleepMinder product, a device which measures sleep and breathing in the home
Mark Payne, director of ResMed’s sleep business unit in Europe, said: “Too many patients suffer unnecessarily from sleep-disordered breathing and related co-morbidities. This step toward full commercialisation of BiancaMed’s unique contactless technologies will provide hope to many patients and clinicians searching for easier access to novel, accurate, and innovative SDB screening solutions.”
Iain Wilcock, Seventure’s UK healthcare investment advisor, will join BiancaMed’s board of directors.
