American Securities Capital has acquired steel bridge fabricator PDM Bridge LLC from Kirtland Capital Partners. No financial terms were disclosed. Kirtland had acquired the Eau Claire, Wis.-based company in March 2002 from Pitt-Des Moines Inc.

Ares Management and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan have agreed to acquire Pittsburgh-based nutritional products retailer GNC from Apollo Management for a total enterprise value of $1.65 billion. Apollo acquired GNC in 2003 for approximately $750 million, and later filed for a $345 million IPO that it ultimately withdrew due to adverse market conditions.

The Blackstone Group has agreed to acquire Cherry Hill, N.J.-based frozen foods maker Pinnacle Foods Group Inc. from JPMorgan Partners, J.W. Childs Associates, CDM Group and former bondholders of Aurora Foods Inc. The total transaction is valued at approximately $2.16 billion, including around $900 million of assumed debt.

DLJ Merchant Banking Partners has sold Wastequip Inc., a Beachwood, Ohio-based waste transportation equipment maker, to Odyssey Investment Partners for $616 million. It had acquired the company from CIVC Partners in 2005 for an undisclosed amount, but said in a statement that the deal represents a 3.1x cash-on-cash return.

First Reserve Corp.

has completed its acquisition of scaffolding services provider Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services from JPMorgan Partners. No financial terms were disclosed for the deal, which came four years after JPMorgan Partners beat out First Reserve to buy the company from DLJ Merchant Banking for around $500 million. Brand Energy is expected to withdraw its current registration for a $260 million IPO.

First Reserve Corp. has sold Aquilex Corp. to Harvest Partners for an undisclosed amount. Aquilex is a Norcross, Ga.-based energy service provider specializing in refining, nuclear and fossil power generation and waste to energy.

Fremont Partners has agreed to sell its controlling interest in Chicago-based IT consultant Software Architects Inc. to Capgemini for an undisclosed amount.

General Atlantic has acquired Network Solutions, a Herndon, Va.-based provider of online solutions for small businesses, from Najafi Cos. (f.k.a. Pivotal Private Equity). No financial terms were disclosed for the deal, which will not result in a change of senior management.

has agreed to acquire a majority stake in AKQA Inc., a San Francisco-based interactive marketing company, from Francisco Partners. No financial terms were disclosed, although The Wall Street Journal had reported that the asking price had been between $200 million and $250 million.

Goldman Sachs and Sanyo Electric have agreed to sell their combined 50 percent stake in Japanese lender Sanyo Electric Credit Co. to G.E. Capital for approximately $372 million, according to Reuters. Other interested bidders had been reported to include Shinsei Bank.

Hampshire Equity Partners has sold Acton Mobile Industries, a Baltimore, Md.-based provider of modular space rental services, to Code Hennessy & Simmons. No financial terms were disclosed. Hampshire acquired its majority stake in Acton in 2003.

Oak Hill Capital Partners has completed its sale of Westlake, Ohio-based truck stop operator TravelCenters of America Inc. to Hospitality Properties Trust (NYSE: HPT) for approximately $1.9 billion. Oak Hill acquired TravelCenters in November 2000, while other shareholders include Olympus Partners, Monitor Clipper Partners and TCW/Crescent Mezzanine.

Sentinel Capital Partners has acquired Mid-West Wholesale Hardware Co., a Kansas City-based wholesaler of commercial door hardware, from Banc of America Equity Partners. No financial terms were disclosed.

TowerBrook Capital Partners has agreed to acquire shoemaker Jimmy Choo from Lion Capital for ÂŁ185 million. Jimmy Choo has more than 60 stores, and more than ÂŁ65 million in annual sales. Lion Capital bought the company in 2004 for ÂŁ101 million.

Weston Presidio has completed its acquisition of Evenflo Inc. from Harvest Partners. Evenflo is a Vandalia, Ohio-based maker of baby products like car-seats, strollers and highchairs.
