Tango Networks Secures $25 Million Series A Funding

RICHARDSON, Texas – Tango Networks, developer of an innovative solution for integrating mobile phones with corporate telephone networks, announced today that it has completed its first funding round, totaling $25 million.

Investors include Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) through its strategic venture capital arm, Motorola Ventures, Nortel (NYSE:NT), Signature Capital, TWJ Capital and Meridian Capital.

The company’s first product, the Tango Abrazo(TM), enables any mobile phone to become a true PBX extension on the enterprise network, for both inbound and outbound calling. The solution makes it possible for enterprises to manage mobile voice communications through a corporate-wide mobility policy.

Users of the Tango Abrazo can be reached on either their mobile or desk phone with a single number and single unified voicemail, and calls can be transferred seamlessly between mobile and desk phones. In addition, users have access to desk phone features such as least-cost routing, extension dialing, enterprise conference calling, call transfer, manager-assistant, among other advanced features from their mobile phones.

The company has been operating in stealth mode since 2005 while it completed development of the advanced technology behind the Abrazo solution. Based on a unique hybrid architecture, the Abrazo platform facilitates productivity gains, control over mobile assets and cost savings for enterprises while maintaining carriers at the center of the value chain through increased margins and revenues, lower churn, and reduced operational expenses. Tango Networks will formally launch the Abrazo in late March at the CTIA Wireless 2007 conference in Orlando, Florida.

“Nortel invests in innovative and disruptive technologies that enhance the communications experience for users and make business simple for our enterprise and service provider customers,” said George Riedel, CSO, Nortel. “The next era of communications will connect billions of computing devices to an intelligent, secure and pervasive mobile broadband network. Tango offers an interesting solution that will empower users to take advantage of this new era and operate seamlessly across public and private networks.”

“The Tango Networks solution can enable enterprise customers to take full advantage of both IP and legacy PBX equipment in their networks, extending its reach to employees’ cellular phones,” said Reese Schroeder, managing director, Motorola Ventures. “Additionally, the robust product offering allows enterprises to manage their growing mobile workforce more effectively.”

“Complementing the financial and operational expertise of our other investment partners, Nortel and Motorola are recognized leaders in enterprise mobility and carrier solutions. We’re fortunate to have two world-class strategic partners who understand the opportunity for both enterprises and carriers to evolve and improve the mobile office,” said Douglas J. Bartek, CEO and president of Tango Networks. “Tango Networks’ objective is to improve the way mobile workers communicate. By giving them access to all the features of their corporate PBX from any mobile phone, employees can be even more productive.”
