Transitions: Cummings Joins Carlyle as M.D. –

The Carlyle Group recently appointed Dan Cummings as managing director in its real estate division. The appointment comes at the heels of the departure of Jim Griffin, who was responsible for Carlyle’s fundraising efforts.

Prior to joining Carlyle Group, Cummings served as managing director in the mortgage-backed securities division at LaSalle Investment Management, and most recently as a managing director at Security Capital Group. “For the last couple of years, I’ve been responsible primarily for the growth and development of the European business,” Cummings said.

Cummings will be located in Washington, D.C. and will be working in corporate private equity investments. “My goal at Carlyle is to get exposure to private equity investing,” he said. “My decision to join Carlyle was based on interests in moving into the private equity arena. Carlyle has been a client of LaSalle’s and I’ve grown to have a great deal of respect for Carlyle and was very excited about the opportunity to join them.”
