Triodos launches green EIS fund

Triodos Bank, the social and environmental investor, has launched a green fund targeting UK businesses.

Set-up as an EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) fund, the Triodos EIS Green Fund will concentrate on companies operating in the waste, energy and sustainable living sectors. It has raised £1.5m and is now closed to new investors, but is planning to launch a second fund in September.

Fund manager Gareth Zahir-Bill says: “It’s a great time for investment in high growth green companies. Despite the challenging economic climate, sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and waste recycling are resilient in the current recession and are often underpinned by government support mechanisms. These sectors provide excellent investment opportunities that will allow us to back the UK’s future sustainability pioneers.”
