Video Game Exec To Start PE Firm

John Riccitiello last week resigned as president and COO of Electronic Arts to start a private equity firm.

Reportedly, he will team up with Roger McNamee, co-founder of Integral Capital Partners and Silver Lake Partners, to start a PE firm in Menlo Park, Calif., according to the New York Times.

Riccitiello, whose background includes stints running a sporting-goods company and the bakery division of Sara Lee, joined the video game publisher in 1997. He was well known for his marketing savvy and for helping the company acquire licenses for several key movie franchises.

“It is time to do something different, and I intend to start a private-equity business,” Riccitiello said in a statement.
