Wellington backs careers site

German VC house Wellington Partners has invested €8m in executive job website, Experteer, in a series C round of funding.

The Munich based career service was founded in 2006 with funding from local VC Holtzbrinck Ventures. Following an initial launch in Germany, is now present in eight countries, including the UK and the US. Wellington first backed the business two years ago alongside Holtzbrinck.

Wellington general partner Eric Archambeau said: “Since our first investment in March 2007, the Experteer management team has impressed us with the way it smoothly and swiftly instituted its ambitious business plan. Within the space of only a few quarters, they have succeeded in convincing more than 850,000 members as well as over 4,800 headhunters. We are highly confident that they will now take their story to next stage and expand their market leadership in Europe and beyond.”

Experteer is Wellington’s fifth investment of the year. The firm co-led a €26m series B round of breast cancer experts SuperSonic Imagine in May, and in April participated in a US$16m financing of New York-based online radio company Goom Radio and invested in Swoopo, an US online auction website, as well as taking part in a €7m second round of Retailo, a Cologne based retailer.
