XOR Networks

Business: Initially established as a network engineering company specializing in local area and wide area network technologies, the company now provides e-commerce services to middle-market and dotcom businesses. In that capacity, XOR partners with each of its clients to conceive, build, operate and evolve their e-business systems.

Headquarters: Boulder, Colo.

Founded: January 1991 (as Redshift Interactive Inc.)

VC raised to date: $80.2 million

Capital raised one year ago: $33 million

Investors: Lexington Partners, Far West Capital Management, Cherry Tree Investments Inc., Frontenac Co. and Minotaur Capital Management.

Plans one year ago: The company was looking to broaden its relationships with the providers of its lease lines for its computer hardware and software. Additionally, XOR planned to explore both private and public financing alternatives to bolster its capital base, depending on market conditions. The company also wanted to expand into Asia and Europe.

Status: XOR hasn’t yet taken its business outside U.S. borders, however, it did manage to nab a $7 million round of financing in July. XOR used its newfound dough to develop and deliver new products for target vertical markets, including retail- and consumer-packaged goods, banking and insurance and media and communications.

In August, XOR signed on The Sporting News (TSN) as a subscriber to its VisionPort service, which provides executives with real-time enterprise performance metrics and the ability to adapt their core business processes in response to change.

And as recently as last month, Inc. magazine named XOR one of America’s leading entrepreneurial growth companies.
