York raises $700M from Ontario LP

York Street Capital Partners of Bedminster, N.J. has closed its second mezzanine fund with $700 million from sole backer The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Ontario Teachers’ also will co-invest in the fund’s larger transactions.

York Street plans to invest up to $80 million per transaction in subordinated debt, equity and notes. The firm was founded in 2002 by Robert Golding and Christopher Layden and employs eight investment professionals. The firm’s first fund raised $250 million in 2002.
