CalSTRS confirms $1.25bn in commitments

The US public pension backed three private equity funds in its latest round of commitments.

California State Teachers’ Retirement System has approved $1.25 billion-worth of commitments to three private equity funds, according to its September 2021 investment committee meeting.

The commitments comprised $600 million to Hellman & Friedman Capital Partners X, alongside $300 million to KKR North American Fund XIII and $250 million to Blackstone Capital Partners Asia II.

CalSTRS has a 12.09 percent allocation to private equity. The pension’s private equity portfolio has a market value of $37.58 billion.

The $310.86 billion US public pension’s recent private equity commitments have tended to target North American or global vehicles focused on a variety of strategies.
