Forbes 400: private equity edition

Stephen Schwarzman of The Blackstone Group topped the rankings among the private equiteers with roughly $10.6 billion of net worth as of September 12 (see accompanying table). That was good for 45th overall on the Forbes list. Fellow Blackstone executive Hamilton James snuck in near the bottom of the Forbes list, finishing 387th with a mere $1.7 billion of net worth.

* Kohlberg Kravis Roberts chiefs George Roberts and Henry Kravis almost cracked the top quartile at 100 and 101. The Carlyle Group’s three top executives ranked consecutively at 208, 208 and 210, with all three holding roughly $3 billion of net worth.

* Other firms with key executives on the Forbes list include Apollo Global Management, TPG Capital, Oaktree Capital Management and Sequoia Capital. Several members of the Chicago-based Pritzker family and a handful of prominent venture capitalists also made the list.
