TZP Group Inc., a mid-market buyout shop focused on U.S.-based consumer and business service companies, has raised $180 million toward a $300 million target for its second fund, TZP Capital Partners II LP.

On the deal-making scene, Thomson Reuters, the publisher of Buyouts, tallied 42 U.S. sponsor-backed deals during the past two weeks. Of those that reported terms, the total value during the period came to approximately $4.1 billion, bringing the year’s aggregate tally to $36.9 billion in disclosed deal value.

Among notable deals, BRE Select Hotels Corp, a holding of The Blackstone Group’s Blackstone Real Estate Partners VII LP, merged with Apple REIT Six Inc, a Richmond, Virginna-based real estate investment trust, for $837.96 million. Also, AndersonBrecon SPV, a special purpose acquisition vehicle created by Greenspring Associates Inc, QIC Global Private Equity, Thomas Mcnerney & Partners and Frazier Healthcare VI LP, acquired AmerisourceBergen, a Rockford, Illinois-based provider of packaging services to pharmaceutical businesses, from AmerisourceBergen Corp, for $308 million.
