Among the prominent funds posting gains in the past two weeks were Providence Equity Partners VII, which reached its reduced target of $5 billion, and Marlin Management, which closed its fourth fund at $1.6 billion, above its $1 billion target.

On the deals front, Thomson Reuters, the publisher of Buyouts, has tallied 655 sponsor-backed deals to date in 2013. For those that reported transaction values, the total volume climbed $5.1 billion in the past two weeks to $71.3 billion.

Among the notable deals of the past fortnight, Bain Capital acquired an 80 percent interest in Plasma Resources UK Ltd, a producer of pharmaceutical research products, from the British government, for 230 million pounds ($350 million). Also, TPG Capital acquired the entire share capital of Assisted Living Concepts Inc, an operator of assisted living centers, in a transaction valued at $279 million.
