The total reflects a $3.65 billion close by Thoma Bravo on its 11th fund. The latest flagship fund closed after being in market for less than six months, well ahead of its $2.5 billion target.

On the deals front, Thomson Reuters, the publisher of Buyouts, tracked 47 new transactions involving U.S.-based financial sponsors during the past two weeks. Among those deals that disclosed their financial terms, an additional $11.4 billion was added to this year’s deal value, bringing the total figure to $45.6 billion so far in 2014.

In one prominent transaction, The Carlyle Group LP acquired the Industrial Packaging segment of Illinois Tool Works Inc, a Glenview, Illinois-based manufacturer and wholesaler of engineered components, for $3.2 billion. Similarly, Vestar Capital Partners Inc acquired Institutional Shareholder Services Inc, a Rockville, Maryland-based provider of proxy research services, from Riskmetrics Group Inc, a unit of MSCI Inc, for a sweetened $367 million in cash, in a leveraged buyout transaction.
