PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

H.I.G. Capital has hired Simon Laker as principal and head of European Asset Management of the firm’s real estate portfolio. Laker will be based in the firm’s London office. Prior to H.I.G., Laker worked at Evans Randall, where he managed real estate investments across several European regions.

HC Royalty has hired Christopher A. White as chief operating officer. His appointment becomes effective December 18, 2014. Previously, White worked at Janney where he served as managing director and head of investment banking.

Insight Venture Partners has hired Nick Sinai as a venture partner. Previously, Sinai was the U.S. Deputy Chief Technology Officer. Prior to serving in the government, Sinai worked at Lehman Brothers Venture Partners (now Tenaya Capital) and Polaris Partners.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts has officially announced the appointment of Alejo Vidal-Quadras as director based in the firm’s Madrid office. Vidal-Quadras will be responsible for developing and supporting KKR’s investment platforms in Spain. Vidal-Quadras joins the firm from 3i, where he worked as head of 3i Spain.

Shamrock Capital Advisors has hired Patrick Russo as a partner. Previously, Russo worked at FTI Consulting where he co-managed the firm’s valuation and financial advisory services group.

Swander Pace Capital has hired Carolyn Hanigan and Alina Costica DiMeglio. Hanigan will provide marketing leadership and strategic direction for Swander Pace portfolio companies and will be based in San Francisco. Costica DiMeglio will join the firm’s investment staff focusing on deal sourcing and execution as well as portfolio management. Costica DiMeglio will be based in New Jersey.

Turnspire Capital Partners has hired Joseph Bondi, Mark Borseth, Neil Minihane and Val Shtraks as operating partners. Previously, Bondi worked at Alvarez & Marsal where he was a managing director; Borseth is a former CFO at Constar International; Minihane is the principal and founder of Turn Works; and Shtraks is a co-founder and managing partner of Bath Authority.

Invesco‘s distressed investment arm WL Ross & Co., has expanded its team with two new hires, according to a spokesperson for the firm. Su Yeo has joined as a principal on the company’s investment team and Eric London has become a senior director on the investor relations team. Previously, Yeo worked at Morgan Stanley Principal Investments while London was a principal in Credit Suisse‘s customized fund investment group. Both are based in New York.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Team Oil Tools, a portfolio company of Intervale Capital, has hired Adam Anderson as CEO. The appointment becomes effective immediately. Prior to joining Team Oil Tools, Anderson worked at Baker Hughes where he held a number of positions that included vice president of US Land Completion Tools. Headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, Team Oil Tools is a producer of completion products for the oil and gas industry.

Personify, which is backed by Rubicon Technology Partners, has appointed Eric Thurston as CEO. Prior to joining the firm, Thurston was the president of Mitratech. Headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, Personify is a provider of software solutions for the association and nonprofit markets.

Pritzker Group Asset Management has named Terra Fuller as director of research. Prior to joining Pritzker Group, Fuller worked at Mesirow Advanced Strategies, where she led the hedged equity strategy team as senior vice president.

Irish video interview firm Sonru has hired Jeff Jones as chief operating officer and Paul O’Mahony as chief marketing officer. Previously, Jones worked at such firms as The Walt Disney Company and Adventis while O’Mahony has worked at a number of software companies that include EMC and Cisco. Sonru is backed by Saphir Capital Partners.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Cubic Defense Applications, which provides combat training systems and secure communications, has appointed Gilman Louie to its defense executive advisory board. Louie is a partner at Alsop Louie Partners. He is also the founder and former CEO of In-Q-Tel.

Online private equity platform iCapital Network has hired Kunal Shah as senior vice president of fund manager due diligence and Caroline Rasmussen as vice president of fund manager due diligence. Previously, Shah was a principal at Meketa Investment Group while Rasmussen worked at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy where she was a member of the firm’s project finance group.

Mizuho Securities USA has hired Derek Dillon as managing director and head of equity capital markets. Dillon will focus on the expansion of Mizuho Securities USA’s equity capital market business. Dillon most recently worked as co-head of capital markets and syndicate at Plural Investments, where he led the global capital markets business. Prior to that, Dillon worked as co-head of Equity Capital Markets at Banc of America Securities.

Hong Kong-based DNA biotech firm Prenetics has appointed Danny Yeung as CEO. Previously, Yeung was at Groupon East Asia where he served as CEO.

Texas investment firm Satori Capital has hired Willie Houston as chief financial officer. Previously, Houston worked at TPG where he served as senior director of financial operations.

Washington, DC-based solar finance firm Sol Systems has named Jerry Stalun as a senior director of investments. Stalun is a former managing director for EIG Global Energy Partners. He also served as senior vice president of GE Energy Financial Services.

Solarflare has named John Hamm to its board of directors. Hamm is a former GP at VSP Capital and venture partner at Redpoint Ventures. Based in Irvine, Calif., Solarflare is a provider of application-intelligent networking software and hardware.

Stifel Financial Corp. has hired William Wilson as a managing director for its high yield debt capital markets. Wilson, who is based in New York, worked recently as a managing director at CRT Capital Group.

Asset management firm TCW has hired Yuri Khalif as a managing director. Previously, Khalif worked at Hatteras Funds where he served as a partner and executive director.

LIMITED PARTNERS

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan said Tuesday that Jo Taylor was appointed Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and head of the London office. Taylor will be responsible for Teachers’ Private Capital and private equity investments in the region.

PROMOTIONS

Vector Capital has promoted Alex Beregovsky and Andy Fishman to managing director. Prior to joining Vector, Fishman worked at Silver Lake Partners and Goldman Sachs while Beregovsky worked at a number of firms, among them Viking Global Investors and Francisco Partners.
