BancBoston Capital Looks To Nordic Markets

BancBoston Capital has recruited Christian Drougge to represent its interests in the Nordic countries. Managing director Andrew Kellett said the appointment reflects BancBoston Capital’s intention of enhancing its European presence and increasing its non-UK business. “There will be further evidence of our commitment to building a pan-European business in the next three to six months”, he added.

Christian Drougge is joining BancBoston Capital from the Swedish conglomerate Industriforvaltnings AB Kinnevik, which has interests in media, telecommunications, forestry and finance.

Since 1994, he has held a variety of positions within the group, primarily in business development within the media sector, including the managing directorship of Intact Media and Communication, a subsidiary working with advanced development and consulting for the Internet.

For the time being, Christian Drougge will be based at Euroventures Management’s Stockholm offices as he works to establish BancBoston Capital’s Scandinavian operation. BancBoston Capital currently operates out of offices in Boston, London, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.

After three and a half years with Granville, Simon Havers has joined ABN AMRO Causeway.

He will be responsible for marketing and will assist with fund raising for the group’s private equity, quoted equity and mezzanine businesses. On the investment side, he will continue to work on deals in the IT and media sectors in the UK and Europe, drawing on the industry knowledge he gained in previous posts at the BBC, Philips and Plessey.

Barclays Capital Developpement has promoted Olivier Millet and Guillaume Jacqueau to directorships. Olivier Millet joined the group from 3i in 1994, and Guillaume Jacqueau moved from BNP Group the following year.

David Carratt is joining the Kennet Capital investment team as a director. Formerly director of professional services at Sybase UK, he has over 20 years experience in international consulting and software and electronics new ventures, both in Europe and the US, gained with groups including Mars and Scicon, BP’s systems integration subsidiary.

At Kennet Capital, David Carratt will focus on investments in the European software and services arena.

Mark Kelly joined the investment team of Mercury Asset Management’s Private Equity Division in April. Previously a consultant in Bain & Co. San Francisco office, he will have particular responsibility for deals in the IT and telecommunications sectors.

Primary Capital has recruited as director, Janine Nicholls, who recently completed an MBA at INSEAD following several years with Price Waterhouse’s Transaction Services Group in London and New York. She joins founders Charles Gonszor and David Hutchings.

Charles Gonszor said the appointment “completes [Primary’s] team for the time being”.
