Beringea backs mobile iPlayer designer

VCT specialist Beringea Limited has made a £2.4m growth investment in London’s Fjord, a digital design consultancy, alongside £250,000 from GP Bullhound.

One of the key developers of the BBC iPlayer, it was instrumental in bringing the on-demand video service to the mobile platform.

It will use the new money to accelerate growth and expand into new regions, as well as explore new service opportunities.

Trevor Hope, Beringea’s chief investment officer, will be sitting on joining Fjord’s board as a non-executive director. He said: “Media and communication companies are increasingly seeking to engage consumers across the mobile and online platforms. Fjord is an established agency, which has already experienced some fantastic growth. Its outstanding management team and expertise means the agency is well placed to capitalise on this specialist market.”
