Law firm Bird & Bird is opening its second office in Germany in October. It established a Düsseldorf office in June last year. The Munich office will have a team of 10 lawyers. The current team includes Joseph Fesenmair and Ulrich Goebel. Michael Gross and Alexander Duisberg will also join the team and a further six are expected to join once the office opens in October.
Fesenmair was head of legal at T-Online. He was also head of sponsorship and trademark law at Deutsche Telecom. He joined Bird & Bird in May 2003 and is responsible in Munich for expanding Bird & Bird’s work in IT, telecoms, sport, sponsorship and trademark law.
Goebel joins Bird & Bird from Luther Menold where he was head of its Munich corporate M&A department. In Munich Meonold will be responsible for corporate M&A and private equity.
The new office will initially focus on intellectual property, corporate M&A, IT, telecoms, sport and sponsorship. It also aims to expand into the media sector and to offer antitrust and employment legal services.
