DOWNLOAD: Fewer North American PE funds secured big money in H1

US and Canadian buyout, growth equity, secondaries, venture capital and other PE funds raised a total of $162bn in the first half, up 8% from a year earlier.

Buyouts’ H1 2020 fundraising report is now available for download.

Buyouts data suggest the covid-19 pandemic did not impact the amount of capital raised by North American private equity funds in the first half of 2020, with offerings collecting a total of $162 billion, up 8 percent from the same time last year.

The number of funds closed, however, declined. Some 240 closings were recorded in the first half, down 27 percent from a year earlier, indicating the early influence of the health crisis, as many PE firms extended marketing timetables.
