Su joins Matrix in China

David Su

, one of the founding partners of the $360 million KPCB China Fund, has joined Matrix Partners China as a managing director. Matrix Partners China, created by Boston-based Matrix Partners, raised a $275 million fund earlier this year. Su joins co-founding Managing Directors Bo Shao and David Zhang.

Su’s departure from KPCB China Fund comes just five months after another of its four founding partners, Joe Zhou, departed to launch his own venture fund.

Zhou is still listed on the firm’s website as an “affiliated partner.”

Granite Ventures hires two

Granite Ventures, a San Francisco-based early stage firm, has brought aboard Eric Gries and Bill Miller. Gries, the former president and CEO of network mediation business XACCT, will serve as the firm’s executive-in-residence. Miller, a consultant and board member to a number of tech companies, will serve as a strategic advisor. Granite last raised a fund in 2005, when it secured $350 million for Granite Ventures II.

Crosslink boosts staff

Crosslink Capital has promoted Maureen Offer to controller, hired Mihaly Szigeti as CFO and named Jerome Contro as COO and general partner. Offer has been with the San Francisco-based private equity firm since 2005; Szigeti previously worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers; and Contro was a partner with private investment firm Tango. Crosslink raised a $400 million fund last year.

Sovereign hires Hasan

Sovereign Capital has named Taha Hasan an investment manager and Tom Matthews an investment executive. Hasan joins the London-based firm from Summit Partners; Matthews was previously with Macquarie Bank.

PCG International adds three

Charles Toy

, Bernard McGuire and Amit Chandra have joined PCG International, a private equity funds of funds manager based in Washington, D.C. Toy was previously general counsel at the Overseas Private Investment Corp. and joins PCG International as a managing director. McGuire was previously an investor and entrepreneur in China and also was named managing director. Chandra, who joins as a senior associate, previously was with Ohio buyout firm Key Principal Partners.

Blackstone appoints Jenrette to board

Richard Jenrette

has joined the board of directors of The Blackstone Group. Jenrette co-founded Donald Lufkin & Jenrette Inc. and replaces Jacob Rothschild.

Madison Dearborn looking for IR pro

Madison Dearborn Partners is looking to hire a second investor relations professional, according to LBO Wire. David Mosher, a managing director with the Chicago buyout firm, currently overseas investor relations. The firm is currently raising $10 billion for its sixth fund. Madison Dearborn closed on its fifth fund, a $6.5 billion pool, two years ago.

Alpha Associates hires Potter
Alpha Associates, a Zurich-based private equity funds of funds manager, named Henry Potter a partner. He previously was with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London.

Towle joins Greycourt
Greycourt & Co., a Pittsburgh, Pa.-based advisor to hedge funds, hired Margaret M. Towle as managing director based in the firm’s Portland, Ore., office. Prior to Greycourt, Towle was chief investment officer of Northern Trust Global Advisors.
