Reed returns to CRV

Attorney Sarah Reed has rejoined Charles River Ventures as general counsel 17 months after she left the venture firm to open a Boston office for law firm Lowenstein Sandler.

It is unknown what the move back to CRV means for Lowenstein Sandler in Boston. The law firm no longer has any practicing attorneys in the city. A source familiar with the situation says that the 1 Bowdoin Square office will be shuttered.

Evercore hires Pacha

Robert Pacha has joined Evercore Partners to lead the firm’s midstream energy practice. Pacha was previously a managing director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he led the firm’s midstream energy practice.

Pacific Alliance taps Miller for new Japanese unit

Anthony Miller

has joined Asian alternative investment manager Pacific Alliance Group as president and CEO of a newly formed Japanese unit. Miller previously was president of Ramius Japan Ltd., where he will remain a senior advisor. Before that, he was with The Carlyle Group as a managing director and head of the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Brennan joins StoneCastle

Jim Brennan

has joined StoneCastle Partners as a director focused on the firm’s fund management and advisory business. He previously was a senior credit officer with Moody’s Investors Service. StoneCastle is a New York-based private equity firm that invests in the banking sector.

Womsley to head to Water Street

Robert Womsley has joined Water Street Healthcare Partners, effective July 1. Womsley was formerly a senior partner with Citi Private Equity. Water Street is a Chicago-based buyout firm that invests in health care companies.

Kepha hires Hjerpe

Eric Hjerpe has joined venture firm Kepha Partners as a partner. The Waltham, Mass.-based firm, founded by former Highland Capital Partners General Partner Jo Tango, invests from a $95 million seed stage fund raised in 2007. Hjerpe previously served as a partner and a venture partner at Atlas Venture for six years total.

Greenhill staffs up Houston office

Christopher Mize

and Aaron Hoover have joined New York-based investment bank Greenhill & Co. as managing directors focused on the energy sector. They will work out of a new office that the firm opened in Houston, Texas. They both previously were with Merrill Lynch.

Edison promotes Mendoza

Orlando Mendoza

has been promoted to principal at Edison Venture Fund. Mendoza is based in Needham, Mass. He most recently served the firm as director of analysis.

Guiney swings over to Flybridge

Matthew Guiney

has joined Flybridge Capital Partners as assistant controller. He previously spent six years with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
