On the Move: Ares hires Joel Holsinger as co-head of alternative credit

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Ares Management hired Joel Holsinger as co-head of alternative credit. Holsinger previously was a partner with Fortress Investment Group where he was a member of the management committee and the investment committee for the credit funds. Before, he was a founding partner at Atalaya Capital Management.

Greylock Partners named Saam Motamedi a general partner. Prior to joining the firm in 2016 Motamedi was a co-founder of Guru Labs and worked in product management at RelateIQ.

Stony Lonesome Group has hired Gary Miliefsky as a venture partner and adviser for Stony Lonesome Capital III. Miliefsky is the founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Information Security Group. Currently he is the CEO of the Cyber Defense Media Group and publisher of Cyber Defense Magazine.

Sorenson Ventures hired Chris Downer as a principal. Previously, he was a principal at XL Innovate.

CRV hired Anna Khan as general partner and Kristin Baker Spohn as venture partner. Khan was previously a vice president at Bessemer Venture Partners while Spohn was previously with Social Capital.

Wellspring Capital Management named Alexander Bues as head of business development. Bues is former head of business development for Balance Point Capital.

Next Coast Ventures named Jonathan Kaplan as chief operating officer. Previously Kaplan served as chief legal officer and general counsel of RetailMeNot.

Origin Ventures promoted Scott Stern and Prashant Shukla to vice president. The firm also promoted Devon Leichtman to director of platform.

MATH Venture Partners named Josh Leavitt as chief financial officer. Leavitt was previously a market president for Green Thumb Industries and the co-founder and CEO of Zoku Technologies.

Skyway Capital Markets appointed Daniel Blood as senior managing director. Previously Blood worked at FBR.

JMI Equity promoted Maggie Schmitt to principal, finance and Tyler Duke to vice president. The growth firm also hired Meredith Keller as director, portfolio talent. Previously Schmitt was an auditor for Deloitte & Touche; Duke was an investment banking analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch; and Keller was director of research at Bespoke Partners.

Floodgate added Shawn Xu to its investment team as a senior associate. Xu is a graduate of Wharton’s M.B.A. program and was managing partner at First Round Capital’s Dorm Room Fund.

Bestige Holdings named Blake Boardman as vice president. Boardman is a former associate at Insight Equity.

Baird Advisors appointed Lyle Fitterer to co-lead the municipal investment team. Previously he worked at Wells Fargo Asset Management where he led the municipal fixed income team and co-led the global fixed income team.

500 Startups appointed Courtney Powell as chief operations officer. Previously she was head of corporate development at Keller Williams.

Omar Habboush joined Astarte Capital Partners LLP as an associate. Prior to joining Habboush worked at Citigroup in London, where he was part of the Institutional Sales teams.

Donald Gerne joined Gemspring Capital as a managing director on the investment team. Charles Fraas joined as a managing director and head of portfolio operations.

Baird named Jason Porter as a managing director for its global investment banking business. Previously he worked at Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC as a managing director in its healthcare M&A practice.

Camber Creek hired Mitchell Schear as a general partner. He is the former president of Vornado/Charles E. Smith.

Yukon Partners promoted David Sampair to principal and Andrew Walker to vice president. Sampair joined the firm in 2011 as an associate. Walker came on board in 2015 as an associate.

FirstMark Capital named Adam Nelson as a partner. Nelson previously served as an investing partner at Social Capital and was head of revenue partnerships at Dropbox.

Thrive Earlier Detection Corp, a healthcare company focused on incorporating earlier cancer detection into routine medical care, named David J. Daly as CEO. The company’s backers include Section 32, Casdin Capital, Biomatics Capital, BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners, The Invus Group and Exact Sciences.

Gryphon Investors-backed Potter Electric Signal Co appointed Gerald Connolly as CEO. Previously he was president of Legrand SA’s wiring device solutions division.

Frontier Medicines, a biopharmaceutical company, has named Kevin Webster as chief scientific officer, Johannes Hermann as chief technology officer and James Winkler as head of degrader technologies. Frontier Medicines’ backers include Deerfield Management, Droia Oncology Ventures and MPM Capital.

TuneIn, a global live-streaming and on-demand audience service, named Juliette Morris as CEO. TuneIn is backed by Sequoia Capital, Comcast Ventures, IVP, Innovation Endeavors, Causeway, General Catalyst Partners, Icon Ventures and Marker LLC.

Provider of collaborative mobile robotics fulfillment solutions 6 River Systems Inc named Juergen Heim as sales director in Europe. 6RS’s backers include Menlo Ventures, Northwest Venture Partners, Eclipse and iRobot.

Children’s Choice Pediatric Dental Care, a portfolio company of Amulet Capital Partners LP, named Stan Andrakowicz as CEO. Recently he was president and CEO for Familia Dental.

EPIC Midstream Holdings LP, which build, own and operate midstream infrastructure in both Permian and Eagle Ford Basins, named Brain Freed as president. EPIC is backed by Ares Management LP.

SRS Acquiom named Scott C. Ganeles to its board of directors. Ganeles was previously the CEO of Ipreo. SRS Acquiom is backed by Lovell Minnick Partners and provides a platform of professional services, technology solutions and data.

MarketCast Group named CEO Henry Shapiro as chairman. John Batter will assume the CEO role. The provider of data-driven research, consumer insights, and analytics serving the media, entertainment, sports and lifestyles industries is backed by Kohlberg & Company.

The Drive, an automotive media and military news platform, promoted Greg Barlow to CEO. He was previously CEO of Constructive Media. The Drive is backed by Flash Equity.

SoundCommerce, an operations data platform provider, named Meredith Han as Chief Operating Officer. Previously Han worked at Amazon.com where she helped launch the health and personal care business. SoundCommerce’s backers include by Defy Partners, Voyager Capital, Stage Venture Partners and Kick-Start Partners.

Megatel Capital Investments hired Andrew Nerney as regional vice president. The company has also added Joel Rickner and Stan Smrke as associate vice presidents to its internal sales desk.

Evercore named Ari Berger as senior managing director in the firm’s investment banking business. Berger previously worked at Barclays where he was a managing director in its consumer retail group.

Simmons Energy, a Piper Jaffray division, named Spencer Rippstein, Andrew Schroeder and Sanjiv Shah as co-heads of energy investment banking.

Grasshopper Bank appointed Barbara Fleming as head of venture capital and private equity relationships. She previously worked at Bridge Bank.

Black Swift Group LLC appointed Tyler Hamilton as a managing director. Hamilton will lead the firm’s investor relations efforts and become director of Black Swift’s new professional athlete wealth advisory group. Hamilton is a former professional road cyclist who competed in the Tour de France eight times.

Marc Bell Capital appointed Anu Bhardwajas entrepreneur-in-residence and deep technology advisor. Bhardwaj is the founder of SHEQ+, Krypto 4 Kids, Qrypto Queens and Women INVESTING in Women DIGITAL. The family office also named Betty Sapp a senior advisor. Sapp previously served as director of the United States National Reconnaissance Office.
