Robert Weltman has been promoted to a managing director of Genstar Capital. He has been a principal with the San Francisco-based firm since 1995. Weltman will continue to focus on life sciences investments. Genstar also announced that Scott Milius will be joining the firm as a managing director at the end of June. Milius comes to Genstar from Gryphon Investors where he was a principal and a co-founder of the firm. In his new position, Milius will focus on investments in the business services sector.

Stanley Lapidus has been named a venture partner at Flagship Ventures. In his new position, Lapidus will focus on investments in the life sciences arena. Lapidus joins Flagship from Exact Sciences, where he was the founder and chief executive and where he continues to be a chairman.

Remy Aubert has joined Sofinnova Ventures as a venture partner. For the past five years, Aubert has consulted to the photonics industry in the areas of fiber optic telecommunication and medical instrumentation. Harold Selick has also joined Sofinnova as a venture partner. Selick has held scientist, and senior executive positions with Affymax, Protein Design Labs, Anergen and Camitro.

Cheryl Smith, co-founder of Network Engines, has been made a partner with Inner Harbor Ventures. Inner Harbor is a venture development company that focuses on strategy, business planning, marketing and execution for early stage technology companies.

Otto van der Wyck has joined Coller Capital, a London-based private equity firm, as an adviser and non-executive director. Prior to his new position, Van der Wyck was the founder and chief executive at BC Partners, a European private equity firm.
