Justin Abelow has rejoined investment bank Houlihan Lokey from Deutsche Bank. He will resume his role as a managing director of the Financial Sponsors Coverage Group and will focus on private equity coverage in the United States and Europe.

Jim Brennan has joined StoneCastle Partners as a director focused on the firm’s fund management and advisory business. He previously was a senior credit officer with Moody’s Investors Service. StoneCastle is a private equity firm that invests in the banking sector.

Gary Chan has taken a sabbatical leave from his job as head of UBS AG’s private equity coverage group in Japan.

Allison Dent has joined Global M&A, an investment bank based in Dusseldorf, as its CEO. Dent was previously co-founder and managing partner of Global M&A’s Canadian partner firm Synergis Capital.

Evercore Partners has named BlackRock co-founder Ralph Schlosstein as its chief executive, replacing Roger Altman. Altman will remain chairman. Schlosstein has also become a partner in Evercore and bought $15 million of its equity.

Geoffrey Harris has joined Broadpoint Capital’s I-banking unit as a managing director. The firm is a broker-dealer subsidiary of Broadpoint Securities Group, Inc. Harris has been global head of healthcare research at UBS, and a portfolio manager for Sirios Capital Management and Jefferies Asset Management.

Michael Holmberg, formerly of Newberry Capital Management, has joined Neuberger Berman’s distressed credit team.

Edward Liddy, CEO of AIG, plans to step down. He had planned for his stay at the company to be temporary.

Ian MacLeod has joined Qatalyst Group as a partner and head of global software and services I-banking. He previously was global head of software I-banking for Goldman Sachs.

Robert Maguire has joined Perella Weinberg Partners as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Advisory Group in London. Maguire was an investment banker and head of Global Oil & Gas Group at Morgan Stanley prior to joining Perella Weinberg.

Anthony Miller has joined Asian alternative investment manager Pacific Alliance Group as president and CEO of a newly-formed Japanese unit. He previously was president of Ramius Japan Ltd., where he will remain a senior advisor. Before that, he was with The Carlyle Group as a managing director and head of the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Christopher Mize and Aaron Hoover have joined Greenhill & Co. as managing directors focused on the energy sector. They will work out of a new Greenhill office in Houston, Texas, and previously were with Merrill Lynch.

Bill Morrow will retire as managing director and chief operating officer of Mid Europa Partners, effective next month. He will be succeeded as COO by Jacques du Preez, who joins the firm from Pond Venture Partners.

Robert Pacha has joined Evercore Partners to lead the firm’s midstream energy practice. Pacha was previously a managing director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he led the firm’s midstream energy and MLP practice.

Michael Rupe has joined King & Spaulding as a New York-based partner in the law firm’s restructuring group. He previously was with Katten Muchin Rosenman.

H. Jeffrey Schwartz has joined the New York office of DLA Piper as chair of the U.S. Restructuring Group. Schwartz joins the firm from Dechert LLP where he was co-leader of the global Business Restructuring and Reorganization practice group.

David Spuria joined middle market private equity firm Southlake Equity Group as a partner and general counsel. Spuria was formerly general counsel for TPG.

William Weld has joined Ivanhoe Capital Corp. as an international business adviser. He is the former Governor of Massachusetts, who currently serves as a partner with law firm McDermott Will & Emery. He also served as a partner with PE firm Leeds Weld & Co.

Robert Womsley joined Water Street Healthcare Partners, a buyout firm that invests in healthcare companies. Womsley, formerly a senior partner with Citi Private Equity, will begin July 1.
