Matthews heads to Evercore

James Matthews

has joined Evercore Partners as senior managing director and co-head of private equity. He previously was a general partner with Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.

Triton spears Thiel

Fred Thiel

has joined Triton Pacific Capital Partners as managing partner. He will oversee the newly created software and IT group. He previously served as CEO of GameSpy Industries.

Enterprise hires Fotiadis

Marios Fotiadis

has joined Enterprise Partners Venture Capital as a managing director focused on life sciences. He previously was a venture partner with Advent International and, before that, was CEO of Achillion Pharmaceuticals.

Ex-Skype exec joins Index in London

Saul Klein has joined Index Ventures as a London-based partner. He is a former executive of Luxembourg-based Skype technologies and previously co-founded Video Island.

Waud boosts staff

Waud Capital Partners

hired Gary Mecklenburg as an executive partner. At Waud, Mecklenburg will look for dealsin health care services for the firm, which invests in middle market buyouts. Mecklenburg was president and CEO of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare and Northwestern Memorial Hospital for 21 years.

Waud has also promoted David Neighbours to vice president. He joined the firm in 2003 as an associate, and was later promoted to senior associate. His current board seats include Hospitalists Management Group, Regency Hospital Co. and True Partners Consulting.

Greenhill adds Steinman

has joined Greenhill & Co. as a managing director focused on advisory opportunities in the retail sector. He previously led the global retail group at Morgan Stanley. —PE Week staff
